Other than your first degree connections, can people in your network contact You on #LinkedIn
Your contact information on LinkedIn is ONLY available to your first-degree connections and no one else. Unless you make adjustments to your privacy and security settings and here is how you accomplish that.
The contact section, this section is now found at the top of your #LinkedIn profile underneath your headline and location. It IS Vitally important you fill out this section as much as possible so that your LinkedIn NETWORK and others can easily contact you. Just so you know this entire section is indexed by Google. What is so important about Google indexing is so that this information will show up on Google search.
Your contact information on LinkedIn includes your LinkedIn URL. Your websites - you can include up to three. Your phone number. Your email address. Your Twitter handle. All of this can be edited, hidden, or made visible by adjusting your settings.
Your URL, you must claim YOUR URL and it should be personalized so it pertains to you. A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is a unique identifier used to locate a resource on the internet. It is also referred to as a web address. URLs consist of multiple parts -- including a protocol and domain name -- that tell a web browser how and where to retrieve a resource.
To customize your URL – go to the top of your LinkedIn profile click on your picture move your cursor down to "Privacy and Setting: and select. Then just click on the "Edit Public Profile" and in the top right corner will appear your URL button click on it to edit your #LinkedIn profile. URL Try to use your first and last name together if they’re available. With over 600 million users it may no longer be available. If its not available add a job title. Mine would be brucebixlerLIexpert. Don't make it too long because that URL may not fit a business card.
My public LinkedIn profile URL I received from LinkedIn initially had 13 characters after my name and was too long for the opening on the business card. SO I had to make adjustments to it.
Add websites where people can follow you or connect with you. You have 3 websites you can list on your profile. DONT just say My WEBSITE or My BLOG those are too generic and it is not beneficial for SEO or Google search algorithms. When you share your website URL's, you will need to use the drop-down menu directly opposite on the right-hand side. When you click on the dropdown arrow you’ll have a choice of Personal, Company, Blog, RSS Feed, Portfolio and Other. In order to get access to the 3 website slots, you need to select ‘Other’ for each one. Then you add the website URL in the box.
Once you have your websites you can then add your phone number, and your email address and a Twitter link to complete your contact information.
Now you should be all set, WRONG. You have to go to your "Edit Your Public Profile" settings and make sure your profile is visible to all people on or off LinkedIn and your content should be visible in search results (Google, Bing, etc.). Also when you are in settings go to the privacy setting of "who Can See Your Email Address" and make sure that "Anyone On LinkedIn" can see your email address.
And, finally, two other privacy settings that you need to know if you are in job search and are listed under privacy and job-seeking preferences.
